May I suggest that someone from the company takes a look at the Glen Afton walk (New Cumnock, Ayrshire) before things within it change to much.  The glen was visited by, not only Burns but: Wallace, Bruce and Mary Queen of Scots. It is worth walking up to the Afton reservoir, passing Castle William (after William Wallace) and Stayamerie (after Aymer De Valence) just to see the change in landscape.

The rivers: Afton and Nith, both which Burns wrote of, begin their lives at New Cumnock. The Afton flowing into the Nith at the town. Armstrong's 18th century map of Ayrshire tells us of a large loch, filling New Cumnock valley, which gave life to two rivers: the Nith and the Glaisnock. The Glaisnock, eventually reaching the river Ayr, meaning that a salmon could enter the river Ayr and exit the river Nith via New Cumnock loch. Interesting?
