Hello all,

I am a Burns fan from Rotterdam, and visited Scotland twice. I have been to his birthplace in ayrshire, and to his masonic Lodge. To both these visits I have the fondest memories.

Strange, isnt it, that this great poet is not very popular overhere. No birthdayparties here, no haggis, no nothing Scotia mostly. That is why I am so very  happy that Lady Alexandria invited me here.

It is true what Edwin Muir has written about Robert Burns.

For a Scotsman to see Burns simply as a poet

is well-neigh an impossibility...

He is more a personage for us then a poet,

More a figurehead then a personage

and more myth then a figurehead..

This is exactly how I think about this great man.

warm greetings from Rotterdam, Betty
