Hi Rose, I believe that William MAY have been born near Comenach Castle in Kyle Regis as his father Allyn Wallace was a King's Tenant according to the Lubeck Letter.
In 1296, Patrick Dunbar de Comenach signed the Ragman Roll. Coincidentally (?) the Dunbar crest is a white lion on a red field as in the "Freedom" video above.

How much time and money has been put into finding out the true story of William Wallace? Keep and maintain the present monuments but also add to them when finding "new" facts from the past eg from the Wallace Seal. How many Wallace monuments in Ayrshire?
Please take a look at "A Report into Sir William Wallace's connections with Ayrshire" by Dr Fiona Watson in 1999. Why was no more said about this report and the "PROOF"?
Strange how a small place like New Cumnock in Ayrshire has the honour of having both William Wallace and Robert Burns drinking in one of its inns. Any other settlement would have made a fortune out of the fact. Blind Harry's Cumno = New Cumnock.
Did you know that after Edward I died, on his way to put an end to Robert the Bruce, the following month his son Edward II came up the Nith valley as far as Comenach Castle, held court for over a week and then returned home with his enormous army?
Cheers, Geoff

Was Wallace born in Elderslie, Elerslie or Comenach?
After the re-discovery in 1995 of the Wallace seal of the 1297 Lubeck Letter, how much has been spent on finding out the truth?
